Materials Commonly Used for Roofing
Also know as 'membranes' this type of commercial roofing materials are prefabricated, single sheets of light mixed and synthetic compounded material created under very strict quality control measures. Single-ply roofs are designed to be versatile such that they can be joined, to enable the wider application. Single-Ply roofing is strong and durable.
Pvc Single Ply Roofing
When it comes to standing the test of time, PVC single-ply roofing ranks up there. Built from ultraviolet-resistant PVC (polyvinyl chloride), it has the capacity to withstand very harsh weather conditions. Among most other options available, it is the best when it comes to repelling chemicals such as HVAC oil. They are relatively wider than other available options for roofing ply in the market; which also possessing an excellent waterproof feature. It is best as a long term solution for people who demand high performing roof at a relatively lower cost.
Pvc Alloy Single Ply Roofing
Having similar membrane as the PVC single ply, there are options to use other metal alloys alongside other materials, which all depends on the type of roofing the customer needs. Adding alloy gives the material more strength and durability. There are numerous formulated metal alloys used for different results. Cost is generally calculated according to the alloy consistency in the roofing, but generally, it's a relatively more expensive option for roofing; understandably so.
Tpo Single Ply Roofing
Although relatively new, the TPO roofing is becoming an increasingly popular system and a valuable inclusion to the single ply roofing options. This roofing sheet is reinforced using fabrics derived from a thermoplastic polyolefin formula and polyesters that are ultraviolet-resistant resulting in TPO roofing options available in several thickness options. This makes the TPO a combination of plastic and rubber through the use of the latest polymer technology in manufacturing. TPO is a reliable option when it comes to commercial roofing as it is simple to install and equally cost and energy efficient.
Epdm Single Ply Roofing
Apparently the most used single-ply roofing sheet in commercial buildings and have been around for nearly fifty years. As compared to other options, the EPDM offers the most energy-efficient and sustainable roofing sheet with high performance. EPDM single ply is made from EPDM accessories and membranes to offer versatility, durability and a reliable roof. The EPDM is said to have laid the standard in modern roofing.
Sbs: Modified Bitumen Asphalt Roofs
The SBS type of roofing sheet designed for commercial structures is built on a rubber-based synthetic high-performance technology which allows flexibility in extremely low or high temperatures. This system can be applied to commercial buildings in various ways, some of which are through hot asphalt, cold adhesive or heat welded among other methods.
Built-Up Tar & Roofing Gravel
Unarguably one of the oldest methods of building roofing which has been in use since the 18th century. Used specifically in nearly flat or flat roof designs, tar and gravel roofs use the asphalt roofing sheet with fiberglass as the base. With the use of hot bitumen, the tar and gravel roof is applied to the roofing system in layers or can be mopped, between each of the layers. Its surface eventually coated using a layer of semi-fine crushed stone or gravel and bitumen to glue the roofing and minimize damaging effects of sun abrasion. The method employed can help deflect the heat from the sun if a light-colored gravel stone is used. The tar and gravel are projected to last about 10 to 20 years on the average, depending weather and climate of the area of application.
